Three MHS Creative Artists' Talent Recognized by Overture Awards

Three Mason High School students have advanced to the semifinals of the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Overture Awards Competition, a program that recognizes, encourages and rewards excellence in the arts among Greater Cincinnati students in grades 9-12. The Overture Awards are the region's largest solo arts competition. MHS semifinalists are junior Alyssa Manguiat (Dance), senior Jessica Sommerville (Creative Writing), and senior Kayla Stroud (Theatre). This is the second year Sommerville has been honored; she won the 2016 Overture Awards creative writing competition.
"We are so proud of these Mason students that were chosen to participate in Overtures! Our community and schools highly value the arts, and we will keep our fingers crossed for each one of our semifinalists," said Tracey Carson, Public Information Officer.
The semi-finalists will compete live February 10 and 11 at the Aronoff Center for the Arts. Four students in each discipline will be selected to compete at the Final Competition.
