Emily ScholesMason High School senior Emily Scholes was recognized as The Kiwanis Club of Mason's September Student of the Month. Scholes was nominated by MHS Math Teacher Greg Roach.

“Emily is a student aide in my geometry class. The classroom is a standard class, but has many ESL students placed within the roster. Emily, not only has found success with small administrative duties I have asked her to do, but she has an integral part of the ESL students ability to connect to the content,” explained Roach. “She is more than happy to offer her help and guidance as they make their way through the curriculum. Having Emily's smiling, friendly face has made the difference between being scared in math to enjoying their seventh bell.”

Emily is a SIBS Board Member and helps chair the Kindness Campaign. She plans to study mechanical engineering and will be applying to the Ohio State University, Purdue University, or the University of Dayton.

On September 13, the Kiwanis Club presented Scholes with $100, a Kiwanis bell, and a certificate commemorating her achievement. Emily’s mother Alice Scholes, assistant principal Amy Hull, superintendent Jonathan Cooper, and nominator Roach joined the Kiwanians in recognizing Emily’s accomplishments. The Mason Kiwanis Club meets weekly at noon at the Houston Restaurant in Mason.
