Orlando Named Kiwanis March Student of the MonthMason High School senior Jake Orlando was recognized as The Kiwanis Club of Mason's March Student of the Month. Orlando was nominated by MHS Science teacher Elizabeth Coleman.

Jake is in my AP Biology class which is very rigorous," shared Coleman. "He works very hard in my classroom and I think he is capable of many great achievements beyond high school. Jake is one of those people that I hope my own sons will grow up to be more like."

Orlando was accepted into West Virginia University for Exercise Physics. A student who is always there for his classmates, he played safety on the Mason High School football team after making a comeback from injury this past year. Jake shares, "High school isn't about grades, it's about relationships. I just want to help other people."

On March 14, the Kiwanis Club presented Orlando with $100, a Kiwanis bell, and a certificate commemorating his achievement. Jake's mom Beth, Grandma Barbara Orlando, assistant principal Amy Hull, and nominator Elizabeth Coleman joined the Kiwanians in recognizing Jake's accomplishments. The Mason Kiwanis Club meets weekly at noon at the Houston Restaurant in Mason.
