MMS, MHS Scientists to Present Projects at UC Science Fair

Science Fair 2017On March 11, 55 Mason City Schools students will present their projects during the 13th Annual UC Science and Engineering Expo. Students from school districts across southwest Ohio will present at this event for scholarships and other awards.  Mason Middle School and Mason High School students who earned a superior rating at the January 26 Mason Science Fair are eligible to attend the UC fair.


A “superior” is the best rating a student can get on a project and eight students received a perfect score of 40, including Laalitya AcharyaHritika KotianArnav MantroRishi MehtaSnehal MishraSanchita ParathamanAkul Rajan, and Sreeram Venkatarao. One team project received a perfect score of 50, which included Yuv Sachdeva and Amey Haridhas.

Those students will be competing at the UC Regional Science Fair along with the other “superior” award winnersincluding: Sankalp Agrawal, Sanjana Are, Hiranya Atreyapurapa, Chinmay Bakshi, Siddharth Barve, Megha Battina, Vidhan Bhardwaj, Prathamesh Chati, Saagar Chokshi, Ammar Dawas, Shreya Dey, Kabir Doshi, Sonali Doshi, Kalpak Duddella, Shruti Garg, Juan Carlos Gaudiano, Amey Haridhas, Meghna Iyer, Loga Iyer, Shankar Kalavakolanu, Preethi Kalyanakumar, Bela Karajagi, Jinal Karani, Preetham Kastury, Vaishnavi Kavoori, Nikita Kesav, Rishi Manoharan, Gilbert Mao, Rhea Mehta, Maanasa Mendu, Swetha Mulukatla, Kaaviya Muruganantham, Ayushe Nagpal, Atneya Nair, Ria Narang, Shriya Penmetsa, Karissa Ponkshe, Kunal Ponkshe, Arvind Prasad, Vineet Prasad, Gayatri Rajan, Meera Rajeev, Nihar Rama, Rahul Ramesh, Anant Ramji, Vibha Rao, Ameya Saraf, Ayush Selar, Rohin Senthil, Amulya Surabhi, Adarsh Suresh, Sanjay Swamy, Rinav Tata, Sai Vojjala, and Alex Zhang.

Competing in the Science Fair requires plenty of time and commitment from students, and many have been working on their projects since the beginning of September.


"The middle school science department is so proud of all of our students who competed in the fair.  Each student took a passion for science and learning to a new level.  They took risks and pushed the boundaries of their knowledge to take massive steps forward.  We are so proud of them," said Jay Reutter, MMS Science Fair Coordinator. 


"These talented students dedicate time and hard work to produce top notch science fair projects and anyone supporting students in this challenging yet rewarding process should be thanked," shared MHS Science Fair Coordinator Karen Young. "Congratulations to the students who stay committed and work hard to get a project to completion within the short time frame, but also high quality projects even while many are balancing upper-level coursework and participating in other extra-curricular activities."
