Mason High School students Nihal Ahmed, Brianna Frey, Jack Middleton, Joey Wood, Liam Wood, and Tina Xie each have artwork chosen for the state competition of the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. State judging took place the weekend of March 10-11, and Frey's work was accepted into the State Exhibition.
The Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition, now in its forty-eighth year, is dedicated to the educational and artistic advancement of talented young people in the state of Ohio.
“The exhibition is open to all of Ohio's 1,112 high schools, both public and private, and is chartered by the State of Ohio Department of Education,” shared MHS National Board Certified Art Educator Tina Roberts.
From the 11,500 regional entries from the 15 regions, approximately 2,500 pieces are selected to enter the state judging. State jurors then select 300 for the actual exhibition, with 25 of the 300 chosen to receive the Governor's Award of Excellence. Scholarships from more than 30 universities and colleges of art are offered to seniors.
