The Mason High School Speech and Debate Team has earned significant recognition from the National Speech and Debate Association.
Students earn points and degrees in the National Speech & Debate Association's honor society based on competitive and service-related activities.
The MHS chapter achieved a total of more than 200 degrees last year, ranking it among the top eight percent of schools nationwide and earned membership in the Associations' prestigious 200 club.
"This milestone is remarkable because it demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skills - including communication, research, listening, writing, and organization," shared J. Scott Wunn, Executive Director for the National Speech & Debate Association.
Wunn went on to encourage the MHS Speech & Debate Team to build upon this momentum to ensure that even more students are empowered to become engaged citizens, skilled professionals, and honorable leaders in our global society.
The MHS Speech & Debate Team is coached by MHS English teacher Melissa Donahue.
