Thirty-eight Mason High School HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) members qualified to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference after taking top honors in the state competition. HOSA is a school-sponsored organization geared for students interested in the health professions and committed to community service.
This year's HOSA International Leadership Conference will take place this June at the Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, FL.
“These competing HOSA students take MHS Biomedical Science classes and have been preparing for competition since August. There is a leadership competition in the fall, then students competed at Regionals. The top three from that competition moved on to State, and then the top three from State move onto the International Competition in June,” shared MHS Biomedical Science Teacher and HOSA advisor Susana Maldonado. "At the International Competition, students are offered leadership opportunities through workshops, guest speakers and more."
Seventy-three MHS Biomed students qualified to compete at the Ohio State HOSA Competition held April 9 and 10 in Columbus. They competed against 2,000 other Ohio high school students in different healthcare competitions.
