Mason High School junior Maddie Meibers has been raising money for Cancer Free Kids in honor of her neighbor and MHS senior, Joe Koenig.
Meibers has raised more than $1,800 by herself, while her team has raised more than $3,000.
Meibers will continue raising funds, and the spirits of young people fighting cancer, at swim meets, and will also be raffling off beautiful painting that were created and donated by a nonverbal autistic young lady who expresses her words through pictures.
"Cancer Free Kids is such a great way to raise money for pediatric cancer research, and I love that I can do it in honor of Joe Koenig," shared Meibers. "I believe that each of us can make a difference and this is one way I feel I can hopefully make a difference in helping find a cure for cancer!'
