The Mason High School Chess Team ended the 2017 season with a slurry of honors.
The Team finished with a record of 15-1, and won the GMC tite after defeating both Sycamore and Lakota East.
"In 80 individual games throughout the season, we only had four losses. Those losses give us something to try and improve upon for next year," explained MHS Chess Team Coach Keith Brackenridge. "We're still trying to see if we can attend the National High School Chess Championship in April.
After the end of the season voting concluded, the following MHS players won honors:
Brackenridge was introduced as the new MHS Chess Coach in May. He has won 304 GMC matches, lost 21, and tied 11 in 21 years of coaching (20 at Sycamore High Schools and one at MHS). He has won or shared 15 titles in those 21 years. He is a full-time instructor at Miami University in Oxford, where his primary teaching assignment is Calculus.
