MHS and MMS Scientists Earn Top Prizes at UC Science Expo

Thirty-six Mason High School and Mason Middle School students presented their projects during the 2017 UC Science and EngineerinExpo on March 11 at the University of Cincinnati's West Campus. The students earned $7,750 in prizes and scholarship awards.

"Congratulations to these outstanding scientists," said MHS Science Fair Advisor Karen Young.


Students from school districts across southwest Ohio competed for over $60,000 in scholarships and cash awards.  Mason Middle School and Mason High School students who earned a superior rating at theJanuary26 Mason Science Fair were eligible to attend the UC Expo. A “superior” is the best rating a student can get on a project.


Competing in the Science Fair requires plenty of time and commitment from students, and many have been working on their projects since the beginning of September.

Six MMS students won $1,475, and the following MHS students won scholarships and awards:

The Buckeye State Fair was held on April 1, and o
ne of our own, Maanasa Mendu was selected as a BSEF finalist and will represent the BSEF (The Ohio Academy of Science) as a presenter at the 2017 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) from May 14-19 in Los Angeles. Students from more than 60 countries will then compete for more than $4 million in scholarships and awards .
