MHS Science Olympiad Hosts Open Table Tennis TournamentThe Mason High School Science Olympiad team hosted corporate and college table tennis teams from Miami, P&G, UC, GE, and others. In the evening, student teams in fourth to twelfth grade from Mason Intermediate, Mason Middle School, and MHS participated in their own tournament.

The tournament was a success thanks to the many student and parent volunteers and especially Jingxian Zhang, whose daughter attends Mason City Schools," shared MH Physics and AP Physics teacher and Science Olympiad Advisor Brian Thomas.

The table tennis tournament was held to raise money for the Science Olympiad club, in part to fund the trip to Ithaca, NY where the team placed fourth nationally.

Science Olympiad is a nation-wide competition that features 23 different science-related events. Teams of 15 students compete in pairs or groups of 3 in the various events. They can range from building and engineering to study and lab, covering topics from physics and chemistry to biology and mechanical engineering.

Science Olympiad is a program that promotes strong team bonds, leadership, and above all else, fosters a passion for STEM.
